Localizado ao sul, no sopé da vila medieval da encosta de Saint-Emilion, o terroir incomum do Château Canon La Gaffelière é composto de argila e calcário arenoso que é receptivo ao calor do sol. Por conseguinte, a vinha tem uma ruptura atípica de variedades de uva para a denominação: 55% de Merlot, 40% de Cabernet Franc e 5% de Cabernet Sauvignon. Com direito à certificação orgânica desde a safra de 2014, este terroir “Cabernet” dá ao Château Canon La Gaffelière um personagem complexo. Distinguido, elegante, frutado e picante, com um sabor muito mineral, o vinho tem uma personalidade inquestionavelmente única. It would have been nice to have tasted a bit more of a range of wines. It also would have been very nice to be able to purchase. We would have been willing to pay a small fee for more options.
Our hostess was charming. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from the welcome to the tasting.

Over all, it is a great experience. Our tour guide lady is excellent and very knowledge of wine.
We loved our experience touring and tasting! It gave the impression of a small, family owned vineyard but with such an impressive name.
The tour guide was excellent, taking time to explain details and showcase what this producer have to offer (including wines from the other vineyards owned by the family) There are no direct sales at the chateaux, however, I will be definitely keep on buying their wine in the US either through merchants or via auction.

It is kind of hard to find the Château, as the entrance sign is quite small.

We were very much satisfied with the guided tour and wine tasting. The guide was very friendly and we also learnt a lot. Though the tour provably took a bit more time than usual as I needed to translate for my family, she was very patient and kind. I can further recommend to visit the winery.

Wonderful tour! Had a very hard time finding the place as the sign was missing, however the tour guide was very patient and waited for us even though we were almost an hour late.
Although the chateau was difficult to find and we arrived late for our appointment, the guided tour was recommenced for our benefit and for this we are very thankful. Our guide was superb and cannot be faulted in any way. She was friendly, knowledgable, and passionate about the wines and made us feel very comfortable to ask questions. The tasting itself was not rushed and we had time to talk about the wine. The whole experience was very enjoyable and one of our lasting memories of our day in st Emilion. We thank you so very much!
