Fonreaud a name stemming from a legend as well as a location on the roof of the medoc, Make this property an exceptional place

Fonreaud means “Royal Fontain”, the legend says that, the king of England Henri II Plantagenet and his wife Alienor d’Aquitaine stopped here to drink to a very fresh source in our park.

In 1962, Léo Chanfreau, a wine grower in Algeria, returned with his family to Metropolitan France. He visited many properties then fell in love with Fonréaud.

Today, Jean, accompanied by his wife Marie-Hélène, his sister Caroline Chanfreau-Philippon, and the new generation, live this vineyard with passion and their ambition is to make every year elegant and fine wines conjugating fruit intensity, with a good capacity to be aged.
